How did Honey become part of the Host Club? Honey is part of a prestigious family who has an incredible talent for martial arts. Honey is in fact a martial arts champion, and the strongest in his family. Two years ago, despite the fact that he was the strongest, people couldn't believe he had such strength due to his small size, so his father told him that he had to discipline himself harder. This meant that he had to give up the things he loved the most: plush dolls and sweets.

Since then, Honey would try walking and acting in a more manly way, and would eat manly food such as huge chunks of steak. Since he was captain of the school's karate club, the other members would say that he was a strong and very manly captain so Honey would be happy. During Honey's great sacrifice, he is lured by a cute bunny puppet which is being used by Tamaki who at the time was in middle school. Tamaki asks Honey to help him open a Host Club, so he can use his appeal to help young women to be happy, which also includes playing with plush dolls and eating lots and lots of sweets and cake!!

Tamaki told Honey that true strength isn't "acting" manly, but rather embrace the things he truly loved and be who he liked to be, that was the way to find true happiness. Honey later asks his father what true strength is, his father being the strongest Haninozuka to the date, attempts to show him in a fight. Once they fight, Honey uses his full strength leaving his (extremely large) dad in the hospital. A goverment official had witnessed the fight and saw how his father had ended up, so he begged Honey to never use his powers in 100% since the UN would believe that Japan had weapons of mass destruction. So then, Honey quit the karate club, and he and Mori joined the Host Club. (Refer to anime episode 18 to witness the story yourself)

Honey's role in the Host Club is mainly to be cute. Girls go crazy whenever he is eating sweets, talking all cute, playing with Usa-chan, and especially whenever he's with Mori. (On Mori's shoulders, being taken care of by Mori, etc, etc.) Most customers and most people in school refer to him as either Honey-kun or Honey-senpai. As mentioned in his profile, Mori is the only one to refer to him as Mitsukuni. Whenever the club has a big event, during ordinary club activities, or during one of Tamaki's big plans, Honey's job is to dress up along with everyone else, and if they're not dressing up, all he has to do is eat more sweets. Though Honey gets sad by not having a key job in some of the big schemes, that doesn't keep him from not eating all the sweets he cans, plus that makes him all happy again.
